Join us for the first annual Dr. J. Noonan Legacy 5K — a family-friendly, virtual event that unites people everywhere in celebration, honor, and advocacy for the Noonan syndrome community. Whether you walk, run, or roll, every step you take helps raise awareness, support families, and strengthen the movement for better understanding and care for those living with Noonan syndrome. You may complete the 5K over the week of October 21-28th at your leisure or simply join for supporting our cause! About Us
WHO we are
We are Krystal & Brandon Steen! Together, we have created a beautiful family since planting our roots here in The Upstate. We have always made a great team and running a business together has been something we never thought would be on our path. However, when word about Krystal's homemade elderberry syrup started spreading like wild fire, it became very obvious that there was a massive demand for a true locally made & sourced elderberry syrup in our area.
A stay-at-home mom at the time, Krystal decided to put faith over fear & go all in and start the process of providing our community with a quality, delicious and cost-effective product that everyone could enjoy! The recipe we use is the same recipe our family has been consuming for years!
We began the 2018 Farmers Market Season at Easley Farmers Market and Travelers Rest Farmers Market and continued to thrive & grow organically within our community by delivering fresh elderberry syrup weekly to our markets for the first time in the Upstate. Since then, our product line has grown to include a variety of non-toxic wellness products including Elderberry Gummies, Fire Cider, Tallow Balm, Magnesium Cream, Herbal Tea Blends & ready to drink seasonal herbal infused lemonades & cider.
What makes our elderberry syrup different?
As the original elderberry producer of the Upstate, Mama K's is the first & only Elderberry Syrup in the Upstate, (second in the entire state of SC), to be recognized as a Certified SC Product by the SC Dept of Agriculture. We are also proud to currently be the only Certified SC Elderberry Syrup producer that has also been awarded the Appalachian Grown Certification through ASAP. We are a true Appalachian located, sourced & handcrafted product. We believe that by understanding that every ingredient we use matters, a streamlined cooking process with the use of premium ingredients, including those from our region, and our overall expertise makes the difference in our product. Our Elderberry is truly one of a kind!
There are no shortcuts in our syrup making process. Each individual batch is handcrafted by us from berry to bottle. Our syrup is brought to a slow simmer and cooked thoroughly & properly in our very own approved & inspected certified kitchen without the risk of any cross contamination. We combine organic ginger, clove, & Ceylon cinnamon with the addition of organic lemon juice & local raw wildflower honey from Bee Well, a USDA certified & accredited honey producer in the Sate of SC. We also support local growers, farmers & small business for our products. Our 100% natural water source comes straight from the lower Appalachian mountains located in Oconee, SC. Oconee Valley Artesian Water is South Carolinas only Certified SC Artesian water source in the state. The water comes from below the earths bedrock, completely untouched by man & retaining all of Mother Natures divine minerals. You can learn more from their website at www.oconeevalley.com. We have also been fortunate enough to work with local farmers & nurseries to produce elderberries & fresh ginger for our syrup whenever available. Our labels are printed locally & even our bottles come from a local agency. Sourcing so much locally reduces the overall carbon footprint & promotes local sustainability.
